EMERGENCY ROAD CLOSURE ON US HWY 52: Effective April 2, 2014, the Indiana Department of Transportation closed U.S. Highway 52 in Franklin County to all traffic between Brookville and Cedar Grove, in an emergency measure responding to rapid destabilization of a roadside slope. Officials anticipate that the closure will continue for a number of weeks until slide repairs can be made.
OFFICIAL DETOUR - routes traffic east of the closure along Interstate 74 to State Road 3 at Greensburg, north to S.R. 244 at Milroy, then east to U.S. 52 and east to Brookville. From Brookville, the reverse route via S.R. 244, S.R. 3 and I-74 should be used by through-traffic.
BLUE-GREEN ALGAE INFO: Blue-green algae (BGA) is found in our lakes year round. When conditions are right, cells can reproduce in large numbers, and can result in a harmful algal bloom (HAB). We test many of our beaches where people use the water in the summer, but HABs may occur in other seasons too. Watch for algae accumulation, avoid drinking or cooking with lake water, and do not allow children or pets to swim where algae accumulation is present. For more information, visit www.algae.IN.gov or read our FAQ sheet here.
